St. Jude, the patron saint of lost causes. Most call it hell, some call it home, but it all ads up to one thing; St. Jude Academy, an apt name for this place. The losers, the geeks, the outcasts, the delinquents, the rebels, the bullies, the mental, & the addicts, all misjudged, misused, misguided, all sharing one thing in common, the need for a place to feel secure, a home. Whether you be a former addict, a thief, suicidal, an orphan, it doesn't matter you are all welcome at the academy. This place was built back in 1802, a large mansion built by Mr. Gregory Allen Kinnik for his new bride Mrs. Ivy Marie Kinnik. It is settled on three hundred acres of private land, owned by the school after the mansion & estate were donated to the school after the death of it's former owner Margret Katherine Tenger, the last of the Kinnik family. It wasn't until 1919 that the mansion was turned into a school for local orphans in the wake of the Spanish influenza epidemic. The children and teens were taken into the home of Lara Ivy Tenger, a newly made widow and her seventeen year old daughter Margaret. The massive place had enough rooms to house 170 people, and in 1928 it had reached it's maximum capacity. 1930 was the beginning of the first set of renovations, adding on to the place, Margret was now the soul owner of the place, she had watched many grow and thrive under her mother's care and now it was her turn, the death of Lara Ivy Tenger marking the start of a new time. By 1945 the Kinnik mansion was dubbed St. Jude Academy and housed nearly 980 students and teachers.
In 2000 St. Jude's was granted full ownership of the property, the school growing tremendously in size since 1945, it had also changed from being just an orphanage to being a safe haven & refuge for lost causes, out casts, and the like. Every St. Jude's takes in kids by the bundle, everything from runaways to addicts, suicide attempts to bullies, and any little thing in between. As stated in the will of the former owner, "may these doors open for any individual, may it be a safe haven for even the most volatile of creatures, to any teen and any plight". Today St. Jude's is a place of drama, healing, friction, confrontation, amusement more or less. The teacher here teach and are always there to help, but for the most part it is left to the students to help themselves, the firm belief that if given time, patience, and a little help each teen will get through their issue, the key is to take it one day at a time. The place has expanded, the academy giving way to Ivy town, a small village just out side the schools boundaries, booming with little shops and restaurants, the town becoming the schools own little hang out place, the students enjoying the freedom to wonder around. However there is an issue, the funds for the school are running low and the near by city of Alstierre has always disapproved of 'the school of miscreants'. Conflict between school and city coupled with the decreasing money supply could be fatal. Drama, tragedy, typical teen angst all are components for one explosive year and it's only just begun, so enjoy it, it could be the last.
Welcome to St. Jude's;the academy of lost causes
